WHHHS Update

We are down to the last three days of school. We had a great day full of service on Wednesday with our Wildcats Give Back Day! Our seniors have finished and will graduate on Tuesday, and we are looking forward to our underclass awards on Wednesday!
Please see below for some important updates and information.
Graduation Live Stream - Tues 5/21 7:30 PM
Guests who do not have a ticket are welcome to view the ceremony from the Martin Marietta Performing Arts Theater where a live stream will be projected on the big screen. Additionally, the live stream will be available at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyEq1p3le3A
Community Engagement Update
Last week, we continued our five-part video series about how school finance works at SLSD. In the first video, we discussed how money is spent across our district, and how that money is focused on investing in people - our students and staff. In the second video, we focused on how SLSD compares to other districts around Hamilton County.
If you missed our previous videos, you can view them by clicking below:

Video #2: https://youtu.be/lmvZesPZXg8
This week, our finance series continues with a focus on the history of past levies here at Southwest, and how SLSD utilizes your tax dollars to ensure a quality education and opportunities for every student.
You can watch this new video here: https://youtu.be/AD6AJtbw6pk
The big takeaway is that SLSD has worked hard to minimize any additional levy asks of the community, while ensuring that SLSD continues to provide the excellence that our students, parents, and community deserves.
We continue to provide the information that we’ve been hearing the community ask for throughout our efforts to engage more directly with residents, parents, and students.
Stay tuned for Part 4 of our series, which will provide more information on the growth our SLSD community is currently experiencing!
We're listening. We're learning. We're acting.
MindPeace Parent Survey on Mental Health Services
Southwest Local School District is partnered with MindPeace to help our school community improve mental health and wellness supports and access to mental health treatment. We have assembled a brief survey to help guide our work in the 2024-2025 school year. Your confidential input will be invaluable, so please consider taking the survey found here. Please note that this survey is specific to mental health services and totally separate from the district’s forthcoming year-end survey looking for feedback on the 2023-2024 school year.
2024-25 Student Schedules
The schedule for next year is complete. We distributed student schedules on Fri 5/3 during lunch. Students have until the last day of school THIS YEAR (May 22nd), to make any changes to their schedule for next year. This includes adding or dropping study halls and both 1st and 2nd semester classes. Harrison High School does not make schedule changes after the last day of school. This allows the district to properly and efficiently staff the building during the summer months. Please check your student’s schedule to make sure you are both on board with the course selection they have chosen/received. All schedule changes must be submitted by either Teams message or email to your student’s counselor. This allows us to have a reliable record of all requests.
Underclass Awards Day – Weds 5/22
Please note that we have moved our underclass awards day from its originally scheduled date of Thurs 5/16. Underclass awards will now be held on Weds 5/22. The awards will take place in the Activity Center Theater as follows:
- 9th Grade Awards: 8:15 AM

- 11th Grade Awards: 10:45 AM
An invitation letter with additional information has been sent via US Mail to all students receiving awards on this day; if a student is receiving an award but is unable to attend, he/she may pick up the awards in the Main Office any business day before Friday, June 28.
